Weighing In

Just wanted to give a little update on the little man so that you can continue to pray for him as he makes his way into our world:)

Yesterday the nurses noticed that his breathing was quicker than is normal. We spoke with a specialist late last night and he let us know that it appears he may have gotten a gulp of amniotic fluid in his lungs. It's nothing to be heavily concerned about but requires some extra monitoring and intervention. Right now they have him on oxygen and a little IV is in place to help them regulate his breathing. Thankfully, at this point it appears that I will be able to feed him every three hours...just under a bit more monitoring than usual. We give thanks for this!

His football player shoulders and my not-so-football-player frame collided a bit during the delivery and he does have a fractured clavicle bone. This is not uncommon in large babies and should heal up within a few weeks.

We are so thankful that overall he appears to be healthy and is improving each day.

Right now, it looks as though I will be released tomorrow. Jude will need to stick around for another day or two so we'll be staying at the hospital with him until he's ready to go. We'll keep you posted on any new developments!

Well, it appears that they were correct during that sonogram! I hope his breathing eases up soon and you are able to be at home as a family. So precious.

Oh...and his shoulder should heal just fine! Even when big kids fracture their clavicle we don't do anything about it. :-) Just wait and it heals on its own.

Hey Laura, this is a little unusual for me to comment on a blog of someone I don't know, but I'm friends with Bear and Amanda. We live in the little house behind their old house. Your hubby met my husband the day he came over to look at the house. Anyway, I saw your blog on Amanda's website. Congrats on the baby!
Also, you met my sister Brooke last weekend in Lville at a graduation party, she told me this morning. And I know Lisa and Drew from Bellevue. Anyway, just wanted to say hi and congrats on the new baby! Maybe we will actually meet in person soon-ha! Ashley Houpt
