Victoria

One of the perks of living on this side is that I get some shows when BBC releases them.  Hubs and I just finished up Season 1.  If you haven't been tuning into this on Sunday nights on PBS, you should.

Definitely my favorite series this year.

Did you watch Poldark? How would you compare Victoria? We watched the first episode of Victoria but the actress bugged me - does it get better?

Katherine, We did watch Poldark..and I was completely addicted. However, I felt more irritated by that show than Victoria, honestly. While I didn't read the book...so I don't know how closely they followed the story, I felt like some of his character development (and that of others) was not really consistent/but more fed by a need for adding drama to an already good plot. And it bothered me a lot. Victoria herself is a bit babyish and if that is part of what bothers you...it does go on a bit...but as the show moves forward other characters are developed more. Alfred is my fav - but partly b/c I just find Germans fascinating:) As an actress, I do like her...so I don't know if you can overcome that one:)

Okay, I will stick with it - I think it was Victoria's brat routine that wore on me. I do agree about about Poldark needing adding melodrama. . . alas, we can't have it all. Though "The Crown" is just about the best thing I have seen in a very very long time.
